Principal photography to begin December 2018

Montréal – October 23, 2018 – As previously announced, Seville International has secured international rights to the star-studded, Spanish language ADVANTAGES OF TRAVELING BY TRAIN, which is being produced by one of Spain’s premier film forces, Morena Films. The film will begin principal photography in December 2018, while sales for the film will launch at the 2018 American Film Market in Santa Monica.

The film stars several Goya Award winners including Luis Tosar (EVEN THE RAIN, CIEN ANOS DE PERDON), Ernesto Alterio (GUN CITY, NARCOS: MEXICO), Pilar Castro (JULIETA, GORDOS), Belén Cuesta (HOLY CAMP!), Ingrid García Jonsson (GERNIKA), in addition to Javier Botet (IT, CHAPTER 1), and Gilbert Melki (BETTY).

ADVANTAGES OF TRAVELING BY TRAIN is the feature film debut of multiple award-winning short film director Aritz Moreno (“Cólera”, “Cotton Candy”), adapted by Goya Nominee writer Javier Gullón (ENEMY, INVADER) from Antonio Orejudo’s award-winning novel. The film will be shot primarily in San Sebastián, Spain, with select scenes being shot in Paris, France. Producers include Merry Colomer and Juan Gordon of Morena Films along with Leire Apellaniz of Sr & Sra and Frédéric Fiore of Logical Pictures.

“Framed in a melting pot of genres ranging from the blackest comedy to absolute terror, Aritz Moreno, our most promising new director, applies his detailed narrative to one of the most rich and original proposals of contemporary cinema. We’ve joined forces to lift this project from the darkness to the most hilarious limbo. ADVANTAGES OF TRAVELING BY TRAIN will freeze your smile,” say producers, Merry Colomer and Leire Apellaniz.

ADVANTAGES OF TRAVELING BY TRAIN follows young editor, Helga Pato, as she comes to meet the passenger sitting next to her on the train, psychiatrist Ángel Sanagustín. Ángel is an expert in personality dysfunctions, and recounts to Helga the worst case he’s faced – the sordid and crazy tale of Martín Urales de Úbeda, an extremely dangerous paranoid man obsessed with garbage. The story leads Helga down an unpredictable path as she sets out on an investigation following her fascinating encounter on the train, unaware that the casual meeting would mark her future.

“We are ecstatic to work with such a talented and celebrated production team and cast on this phenomenal and offbeat story. It should be a hell of a ride,” says Anick Poirier, SVP of Sales, Seville International.
