Seville will launch sales of Imri Matalon and Aviad Givon’s directorial debut at TIFF

Montréal – August 30, 2018 – Seville International is pleased to announce it has secured international rights to Imri Matalon and Aviad Givon’s BROKEN MIRRORS. Sales for the film will launch at TIFF.

BROKEN MIRRORS, which was nominated for three Awards of the Israeli Film Academy, is the directorial debut for Matalon and Givon who also wrote the script together. Leading Israeli producers Ronit Reichman (INSIDE THE GOLDEN STATUE) from The Content House and Liora Landau (SHARON) from Omer Films produced the film.

BROKEN MIRRORS follows Ariella, who grew up shadowed by a strict father who used to punish her severely in order to discipline her. One morning she makes a mistake for which he is not willing to punish her. Ariella goes out on a quest to find her own punishment. While being on the move, she finds out about a crucial mistake her father had made in his past. This mistake still haunts him today reflecting on her as well.

“We are very excited to have our debut film find a home like Seville,” said the film’s directors Imri Matalon and Aviad Givon. “BROKEN MIRRORS, is founded on very intimate, personal experiences and within its narrative there is a subject that is somewhat overlooked – the importance of forgiveness.” Producers Ronit Reichman and Liora Landau added, “We know that Anick and her team at Seville will bring our film, with its universal story, to the rest of the world. We believe that Seville International has a rare combination of wonderful people and excellent taste and are thrilled to work with them.”

The film stars Shira Haas (THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE, FOXTROT) as Ariella, Yiftach Klein (7 DAYS IN ENTEBBE), Renana Raz (CRASH) and Manuel Elkaslassy (VIRGINS).

“BROKEN MIRRORS is a gripping film about truth and human relationships. Imri and Aviad have crafted a stunning narrative and captured incredible performances from their cast. Shira Haas yet again blows away audiences and delivers on every emotional level,” says Anick Poirier, SVP of International Sales, Seville International. “We’re ecstatic to join forces with the directors, Ronit and Liora and together share this story worldwide.”

The deal was negotiated by Poirier for Seville International and the producers on behalf of the film.
